Survey
The HAIAF membership has increased significantly over the past ten years, but still appeals primarily to in-house internal auditors. A major survey was conducted in 1998/99 to canvas members’ requirements, and further work is underway in relation to changing the forms of membership to better reflect the current environment in which internal auditors operate.
Last year the HAIAF commissioned a piece of research into best practice internal audit in housing associations. If you would like to purchase a copy of this research or find out more about it please email info@haiaf.org .
External providers
We are working with external providers to provide them with the most suitable form of membership, while maintaining the key principles of the HAIAF.
Lobbying
The HAIAF has successfully lobbied on key issues of relevance to housing association internal auditor, eg. The role of internal audit in the facilitation of risk management; the revisions to the Code of Audit Practice which resulted in the circular R2 25/01 ‘Internal Controls Assurance; Tenant Services Authority consultation on the validation of performance indicators.
Profile
The HAIAF's reputation has developed over the years and it is now invited to consult on key issues of relevance to housing association internal auditors by the Tenant Services Authority, the Institute of Internal Auditors (UK & Ireland), CIPFA and other trade associations and professional bodies. Members are asked to promote the work of the HAIAF wherever possible, eg. When invited to speak on internal audit matters.
